This beautiful vintage porcelain miniature cup and saucer pattern tells a story.
The story tells of a pair of lovers - Kong Shi and Zhang. Kong Shi's father was a wealthy official who forbade them to be together. He arranged for Kong Shi to marry a noble warrior.
Determined to escape, the lovers fled across a bridge, but were chased by the officials. They found refuge, but were later discovered and eventually died tragically. Eventually, the gods took pity on them and turned them into two doves, a symbol of eternal love.
